INGLIS, Walter McRae

It is with profound sadness the family of Walter Inglis announce his passing on Friday, December 23rd, 2011 at his home at Roses Bridge Manor in Jasper, Ontario in his 91st year.
Walter Inglis, formerly of Nancy Street and Supples Landing Retirement Residence in Pembroke, loving husband for 64 years of the late Kathleen Inglis (nee Richardson). Dear father of Malcolm Inglis of Mayne Island, BC; Kathleen Cooper (Jim) of Jasper; and David Inglis of Winnipeg. Proud grandfather to Christopher Cooper (Ottawa), Stephen Cooper (Ottawa) & Tricia Smith (Kevin) of Georgetown, Ontario. Loving great-grandfather of Jack Cooper (Mom, Shelley Hickson, Pembroke) and Allie & Matthew Smith,Georgetown.
Walter was educated at the University of Glasgow, Scotland before immigrating to Canada to accept a position at Chalk River Nuclear Laboratories in 1955, from where he retired in 1984. Walter served in the RAF (Britain) in WWII and was a life long member of Br.#72 Royal Canadian Legion, Pembroke. He joined the Masonic Lodge in Scotland and continued his patriotism in the Pembroke Masonic Lodge AF& AM #128 . For over 25 years Walter was Sunday School Superintendant at First Presbyterian Church where for many years he also served as an elder and member of the session. His devotion to his church was unfading. Appreciations are extended to Jennifer & Derek McEwen of Pembroke for their care and support of Walter in his later years and to the staff of Supples Landing & Roses Bridge Manor.
Respecting Walter's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service in honour of Walter will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Pembroke followed by a reception in the Church Hall on Saturday, January 7th at 2 p.m. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife Kathleen at a private interment at a later date.
