Verena Holtz was peacefully received by her Lord & Saviour on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018 at the age of 87 years with loving family by her side.

Beloved wife of Carson Holtz for 64 years.  Loving mother of Colleen Smith (Craig), Heather Lariviere (Denis) and Carey Holtz.  Proud grandma of Steven (Tamsin), Andrew and Tim Smith; Nicole and Kristofer Lariviere.  Daughter of the late Bill and Myrtle Pilatzke and Uncle Fred and Aunt Bella Kielman.  Predeceased by sister Luella Ashick and brothers Percy, Ken, Erwin and Stanley Pilatzke; brothers-in-law Urban, Mahlon, Wilbert, Newton, Norman, Eldad, Lester, Welden Holtz and sisters-in-law Ida Cotie and Loella Bartlet.  Verena is survived by brothers Mel Pilatzke (late Myrna), Glen Pilatzke (Liz) and sisters-in-law Jean Pilatzke and Margaret Holtz as well as many nieces and nephews.  Special Heart-felt thanks to all the staff at Marianhill in Pembroke for their care and compassion during her time with them.

Visitation will take place at the Malcolm, Deavitt and Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Sunday, May 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  A funeral service will take place at Zion Evangelical United Church, 368 Miller St., Pembroke on Monday at 11:00 a.m.  Interment in Zion Evangelical United Church Cemetery.  For those desiring, donations to the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County.  Online donations and condolences may be made at www.mdbfuneralhome.com
