BAILEY, Vera Jonina (nee Rognvaldson)
Vera Jonina Died peacefully on September 21, 2005 in her 93rd year at the Marianhill Nursing Home in Pembroke, ON. Wife of the late Dr. Reverend Harold Masters BAILEY; mother to Jonina, Gwenyth, Marcail, Dickson and Glen; grandmother to 20 and great-grandmother to 15; and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Vera (sister of Bert, Mabel, Gordon, Clarence, Laura, Ellis, and Douglas) was the daughter of John Rognvaldson and Maud (nee Allen) and was born in Winnepegosis in 1911. Vera became an RN after competing studies at the Winnipeg Sick Children's Hospital and practised as a nurse in Hearst and at the Sick Children's in Toronto where she worked for many years. She worked as a social worker with Children's Aid in Sarnia. Her love of children was also expressed in her long support for her Foster Parent Plan Children. Vera was above all devoted to her family. She instilled in her five children sensitivity to others and the desire to be the best they could be. She and Harold shared 65 years of marriage together: their committment to one another never wavered. Vera will be greatly missed for her energy, her sense of humour and winsome smile, and caring for others.
A celebration of Vera's life will be held at Calvin United Church, Pembroke, ON on Monday, October 3, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception and interment in the Calvin United Cemetery, Pembroke. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Folster Parents Plan of Canada or a children's charity of your choice. Arrangements by the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Box 74 Pembroke, ON K8A 6X1, 613-732-3637.
