Terrence “Pappy” Houghton
Sergeant (Ret.) 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Division India Company,
United States Marines Corps
November 10, 1944 – February 19, 2025
With heavy hearts, we sadly announce the passing of our beloved Pappy, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital surrounded by his family. Loving husband to Jackie (nee Landry). Dearly missed by his daughters Cindy (late Terry Ritz), Lisa Best (Blair Horwill), Amanda (Sean McMullan), Farrah (Mike Chow) and Christine Houghton. Loving Pappy to Kurtis Ritz (Myra), Sarah (Connor Zieman), Caleigh & Nolan McMullan, Cameron, Emma, Madison and Malachi. Proud Great-Pappy to Lily, Eliza, Paetyn and Josie. Predeceased by his parents Fred & Elsie Houghton (nee Jike).
Terry lived a life of service, enlisting as a Canadian in the United States Marine Corps and serving overseas in the Vietnam War. Known as “Frenchie” to his military Semper-Fi Brothers. He was a proud veteran who was humble about his service. Eventually he returned to his roots in the Ottawa Valley where he worked for Enbridge Gas, retiring after 25 years. Pappy truly gave his whole heart to his family and his loved ones, always cracking jokes hoping to make someone smile & laugh, even in his final days.
Pappy, you are going to be forever missed.
