Dr. Taylor, Stuart Edward
Passed away peacefully at The Perley and Rideau Veterans Health Centre in Ottawa on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the age of 91.
Dr. Stuart Taylor formerly of 231 Golf Course Rd., Pembroke. Dearly loved husband of the late Jean Taylor (nee Briscoe). Dear father of Gordon Taylor (wife Rosemary), Ottawa; Barbara Blakney (husband Robert), Chemanus, BC; James Taylor, Dawson City, Yukon; and Dr. Lisa (Elizabeth) Taylor, Manotick. Grandfather to Jesse Taylor; Joshua, Jessica & Jade Blakney; and Symon Taylor. Step-grandfather to Ana Karina, Jacob and Caleb. Great-grandfather to Jacob & Jasmine Blakney. Son of the late J. Deacon and Gwendolyn Taylor.
Stuart a passionate outdoorsman was a Kingscout and leader at YMCA Camp (Golden Lake). A World War II Navy veteran; he served aboard a submarine in the Royal Navy overseas ending the war stationed in Bora Bora. Then receiving an Optometry Degree at the University of Toronto, he served the community of Pembroke for many years from his office downtown. He loved to fish, especially at Crutch Lake. Stuart also loved gardening (Ask Joe). In later years Stuart enjoyed sharing stories about his stock market adventures, ship collection and war stories.
Friends may call at the Malcolm, Deavitt and Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Br 72 are requested to assemble at the funeral home on Thursday for a service at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Calvin United Church on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations to the Pembroke Boys and Girls Club would be appreciated.
