Skye Faris

Skye Mary Louise Faris Peacefully, surrounded by love, Skye passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Montfort Hospital, in her 75th year. Tender Mom of Kathy Church (Rob Jacka), loving and proud Grandma Skye to Cameron and Grace, dear sister to Paul (Audrey), supportive Aunt to Jay, Jeff and Jill, and their families, and treasured Friend to many in Ottawa, Killaloe, Pembroke, Brooke Valley, and India. Predeceased by her parents Kathleen Faris (1953) and Gordon Faris (1975), and Doris Faris (2000). Skye lived a life full of passion and diverse spheres of influence: Raised in Toronto and Rolphton (Pembroke), Macdonald Institute (Guelph) grad '63, CUSO Volunteer in India and Ghana '63-'66, Multi-Media Artist, Life-long Peace Activist, Community Builder, Reiki teacher & practitioner, Member of Terra Firma Co-housing, Quaker, Ghandian supporter, Kale lover. Special thanks to Dr. Nicole Leblanc and Nurse Emily, and long-time friends Jane, Jake, Signy, Steve, Lilia, Rebecca and Anthony who comforted her in her last hours. At Skye's request, cremation has taken place. In lieu of a funeral, there will be a Memorial Meeting, in the manner of Friends (Quakers), at St Giles Presbyterian Church, 729 Bank Street (at First Avenue), Ottawa, on Sunday, June 1st, at 2 p.m. This will include a time of silence and sharing, followed by a reception. Please bring written stories and photos to share with her family.
