HANDKE, Roland Basil
Passed away peacefully in the Pembroke Regional Hospital on Monday, January 5th, 2009 at the age of 72 years.
Rollie Handke of Pembroke, husband of Corina Handke (nee Demers) and by first marriage the late Noreen Handke (nee Mirault). Dear father of Donna McNeil, Pembroke; Darrel (Debbie), Kitchener; Joanne DeDieu, Trenton; Michael, Pembroke; Tracey, Kitchener; Terry (Bernadette), Waterloo; Patricia Kolenko (Randy), Sheffield; Crystal, Pembroke; and Kevin, Pembroke. Grandfather of Brian and Sherry; Shaun, James and Christopher; Eric, Alex and Tara; Taylor and Cody; Ethan and Madison; and 4 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by granddaughter Chantel.
Brother of Irvin (Adeline), Eganville; Joy Herault (Henry), Pembroke; Nelda Clarke (Frank), Waterloo; and Judy O'Brien, Sudbury. Predeceased by brothers Donald (Lauretta), Pembroke; Garvin (Erna), Pembroke; and Emerson (Loretta), Eganville. Son of the late Andrew and Mamie Handke (nee Rose). Survived by many nieces and nephews. Rollie was born in Eganville and moved to Kitchener in 1965 where he was a long-time employee of Lear Seating, returning to Pembroke in 1999 after his retirement. He had a passion for hunting and fishing, loved music and playing radio trivia, as well as watching wrestling and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Resting at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, l4l Renfrew Street, Pembroke on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Thursday. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Pembroke on Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment in St. Columba's Cemetery. (As an expression of sympathy, donations to Muscular Dystrophy would be appreciated).
