Stewart, Robert (Bob) – Passed away peacefully at the Pembroke Regional Hospital on Saturday, December 3, 2022 a the age of 91 years with family support.
Robert leaves his loving wife of 67 years, Bertha (nee Burke), his daughter Lillian (John Kinsella), and granddaughter Amelia Kinsella (Sveinbjörn Geirsson). He was predeceased by his parents James Stewart and Hedwig Stewart (nee Lindeman), and his siblings, Clarence, Mona, Donald, Ethel, Janet, Gwen, and James. He will be truly missed by his many nieces and nephews as well as his brothers- and sisters-in-law. Bob proudly worked as a public servant at Canadian Forces Base Petawawa for his entire career, in various roles and retired in 1986 as Manager of the Central Registry. Bob was a natural and comfortable musician playing first in the school band, and then in the Pembroke Legion Community Band. He also enjoyed writing poetry and shared many of his inspired creations. In his younger years, Bob enjoyed horseshoes and badminton and later took up golf as well, enjoying many rounds with family, and the lads in the neighbourhood. As his mobility became more limited, he became passionate about current affairs, in particular politics and would engage anyone in a lively debate about the news of the day. He will be missed by all who knew him. Thanks to the physicians and nurses in the ER and on the 2nd floor medical unit at Pembroke Regional Hospital for their caring, compassion, and professionalism.
