DICK, Meryl Jane - passed away at her home in Sudbury on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the age of 100 years.
Meryl Dick (nee Forrest), wife of the late Lloyd Dick. Beloved mother of Malcolm (deceased), Terry (Kathleen), Vancouver; and Karen Brennan (Bill), Sudbury. Proud grandmother (Merylie) to Alexander (Sandy) Dick, Kay Tasse, Amy Brennan, Brent & Lisa Dick. Great-grandmother to Wil & Tess Hausenblas, Curtis Tasse, Joshua & Ella Dick and Kyleen & Kean Chisholm-Dick. Predeceased by parents Alexander & Annie May Forrest (nee Phillips) and siblings Mildred Patterson, Stewart Forrest, Phoebe Kohls & Vera Dessau. Meryl will be missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.
Respecting Meryl's wishes, there will be no visitation or service, and her body has been bequeathed to the School of Anatomy at Queen's University for medical education & research. Arrangements entrusted to Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, Pembroke. (As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation would be appreciated by the family.)
Since Meryl lived life to the fullest, the family has beautiful, lasting memories. She is remembered for her love of the Blue Jays, music, dancing, euchre, scrabble, cross-word puzzles & reading. She also enjoyed a "wee dram of rum" in her milk, on occasion. She was an excellent cook and her rhubarb pudding, seafoam salad and homemade ice cream were the best in the world. Our fondest memories are how she loved and was loved by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the children of her friends.
