GIESEBRECHT, MCpl. Kristal
Member of 1 Canadian Field Hospital, CFB Petawawa
Tragically on her second tour in Afghanistan on Saturday, 26 June, 2010.
Master Corporal Kristal Lee Anne Giesebrecht (nee Brant) of Petawawa, dearly loved wife, best friend and soulmate of Matt Giesebrecht. Loving stepmother and precious friend to Jonathan. Cherished daughter of Angela Mercer (Bill), Chatham; and Daniel Brant (Linda), Wallaceburg. Devoted sister to Shannon Shepley, Chatham and Dan Brant, Wallaceburg; loving Auntie to Katelyn, Sara and Melissa. Treasured daughter-in-law of Don and Sandy Giesebrecht, Petawawa; and much loved sister-in-law of Sarah Lamothe (Jason), Oshawa.
Kristal was a heavenly blessing to everyone she met. She was the truest of friends, able to raise the spirits of all in her presence with her angelic smile and unquenchable enthusiasm for life. Kristal enjoyed any competition and whether it was a marathon, a simple game of scrabble with friends or a cash game of poker with a Commanding Officer, she was always playing to win and would let you know when she had. She appreciated the finer things in life. Proudly decorating her home, old photos of precious moments, sitting around a campfire, exploratory walks on a warm beach somewhere far away, caressing massages and butterfly kisses were just a few of her favourite things. But she also loved to celebrate. She brought something very special to every gathering. A party was never a party until Kristal had arrived and not long after would proclaim, as only she could, that it was time for "SHOOTERS!" Kristal was a healer. Whether it was wounds of the heart or wounds of the flesh, she always chose to place the well-being of others ahead of her own. She was as capable of helping those in need with her gentle touch and caring words as she was with her experience and professional medical skills earned as a Medical Technician with 1 Canadian Field Hospital in CFB Petawawa. Kristal was proud to serve her country and while she cherished all of her contributions and accomplishments as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, they could never compare to her love and devotion for her friends and family; or ours for her. Kristal was simply everything to us, our living soul and with her passing we are left searching for a part of us that can never be replaced. Friend, Auntie, Step-mother, Sister, Daughter, Wife and Soulmate… your spirit will live on in us forever. You will never be forgotten.
