Mary Margaret Sterling (Fleming)

August 1, 1931 – February 14, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Mary Sterling, with her loving family by her side at Marianhill on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. Mom passed away with a peaceful calmness surrounded by love – just how she lived her life. 

Loving wife of 60 years to the late James “Jim” Sterling.  Loving mother of Louise Armstrong (Alan) & Wanda Edmonds (Scott), both of Pembroke; and Nancy Carr (John), Kingston.  Loving Grandma of Jeffrey Armstrong (Julia), Jennifer Armstrong (Tyler Keon), Sterling Edmonds (Raylene Langor), Tyler & Jessica Edmonds, Brandon Carr (Cassandra).  Great-grandma to Hailee Schroeder, Caleb & Travis Keon and the late Anthony Carr.  Sister-in-law to Sheila Wilcox (late George), Golden Lake and David Sterling (Leith), Barbados.  Predeceased by parents, sisters Lavina Begin (late Pat), Gabrielle Songo (late Al), and Edna Valiquette (late Bill). Mary is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Respecting Mary’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial Visitation will be held at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St, Pembroke on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 9-10:30 a.m.  A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Pembroke on Saturday May 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment of ashes in St. John’s Anglican Cemetery, Eganville. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Canadian Cancer Society or Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
