Peacefully in the Pembroke Regional Hospital on Sunday, November 17th, 2024, at the age of 89 years old. Beloved wife to the late Weldon Remus. Loving mother of Ron Gibson (Giselle) of Pembroke, Margo Schwantz (Gary) of Pembroke, Vicki Wetmore (Mike) of Jasper, AB and Peter Remus (Marian) of Ottawa. Cherished Grandmother of Bradley Gibson (Sara), Curtis Gibson, Travis Gibson (Rose), Corey Schwantz (Cheryl), Erika Barker (Phil), Trina Amundrud (Ryan), Adam Wetmore (Brittany), Juliana Remus, Tyrel Remus (Anoushka). Proud Great-Grandmother to Joy Gibson, Caleb and Carson Schwantz, Hayden, Reid & Emme Amundrud and Meadow Wetmore. Also beloved mother to the late Robert Gibson.
Marion was the only child of the late Alex and the late Mildred Gahr.
Marion was raised on a farm in Germanicus and toughed it out as an only child. She later worked at various jobs at CFB Petawawa, Woolworths in Pembroke, Murphy Ford and The MNR in Pembroke. She had a great sense of humour and loved to dance a waltz, polka and even a square dance. At 89 she still took the lead on the dance floor. Marion also gave her time to volunteer at many places and events and just enjoyed to chat.
Marion will be missed dearly by her family, many relatives, neighbours and friends, and by all those who knew her and had the opportunity to call her a friend.
The family wishes to thank the staff and residents at Riverview Heights Retirement Residence for their care, friendship and support to Marion during her time there and to the Pembroke Regional Hospital doctors, nurses and staff for the compassionate care in her last two weeks.
