Marie SYRIE

SYRIE, Marie Leona Peacefully in hospital, Pembroke, on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 65 years. Marie Syrie (nee Hachey) of Petawawa, dearly loved wife and best friend of Ronald Syrie. Dear mother of Chad Syrie (Leah), Petawawa; Chris Syrie (Lisa), Caledonia; and Susan Dixon, Waterdown. Loving and cherished Nanny to Kamryn; Kayla & Morgan; and Eric & Allison. Daughter of the late Edgar & Leona Hachey (nee Theriault). Sister of Edgar Hachey (Margaret), Moncton, NB; and Eric Hachey (Patricia), Pembroke. Predeceased by brothers Joseph (Doriel), and Donald (Denise) Hachey. Sister-in-law of June Syrie (late Chuck), Pembroke. Marie will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends. After teaching for several years at Algonquin College, Marie and Ron bought and managed Pine Ridge Park and Resort, and Shanty Antiques. Marie warmly welcomed everyone who stayed at the resort and many returned year after year. She loved to work outdoors and do crafts. Marie was an active friend of the Petawawa Rotary Club, participated in Relay For Life, and along with her husband went to El Salvador with students to bring medical supplies and to help enrich the environment with her spirit. She received the Paul Harris Award for her many hours of volunteering with the Rotary Club. Cremation has taken place.
