CARDWELL, Margret Charlotte (nee Lembke)
Born on March 22, 1921 in Hannover, Germany, passed away in Bonnechere Manor, Renfrew on Thursday December 23rd, 2004 at the age of 83 years.
Margret Cardwell, formerly of Pembroke beloved wife of the late Lionel Cardwell. Daughter of the late Wilhelm Otto Lembke and the late Sophie Marie Ida von der Heyde. Predeceased also by her brother Otto. She is survived by brother Horst Lembke and friend Renate, and several nieces and one nephew in Germany, and by 2 step-children, Bruce & Brian in Toronto. Margret immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1954. She devoted her life to teaching. Her first teaching job in Canada was in West Flamborough, Ontario and she subsequently taught in Hamilton; Eskimo Children and also a German class. In 1971 she married Lionel Cardwell in Hamilton. After moving to Pembroke in 1974 she taught at Rockwood Public School and later at Herman Street School in Petawawa. Margret was devoted to her Church, a member of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church in Pembroke, where she taught Sunday School and was active in various committees as well as an active member of the Evangelical Lutheran Women's group. Margret enjoyed travelling. After her retirement she spent the winter months in Florida. Her last years in life have been spent at Bonnechere Manor in Renfrew.
Resting at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Sunday December 26th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service in St. Timothy's Lutheran Church on Monday at 11 a.m. Spring Interment in Zion/St. Timothy's Lutheran Cemetery.
