GINGRAS, Joseph Louis Ferdinand (Royal Canadian Air Force 1958 – 1988) – passed away peacefully, in the arms of his loving wife at the Pembroke Regional Hospital on Friday, July 31, 2020 at the age of 79 years.
Louis Gingras of Pembroke, beloved husband of 58 years to Vivian Gingras (nee Neadow). Proud father of David Gingras (Jacquie), Embrun. Honoured grandfather of David Jr. Gingras (Ashley) & Ryan (Chloe) Gingras. Great-grandfather of Ryleigh & Hannah Gingras and Benjamin & Katelynn Gingras. Son of the late Ferdinand & Maria Gingras (nee Baroski). Dearly loved son-in-law of Gracie and the late Arthur Neadow. Brother of Claude (Cecile), Claudette, Marcelle and Eva Gingras (Roland Soulieres). Special and dear brother-in-law of Doreen Ambroziak (Dave), Nevada Neadow (Denise), Utah Neadow (Alice), Carolyn Watt (Keith) and Colin Neadow (Kim). Predeceased by siblings Ferdinand (Nicole), Lise, Francois and Nicole Gingras and by brother-in-law Monte Neadow. Louis will be missed by many nieces & nephews.
Louis was a proud and decorated member of over 30 years with the Royal Canadian Air Force, known by his respected comrades as “Lou the flying frog” for his loadmaster skills aboard the CC130 Hercules. He led by example as his son and both grandsons are also members of the Canadian Armed Forces. Per Ardua Ad Astra – “Through adversity to the stars”
Visitation will be held at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. It is with heavy hearts, due to COVID-19 a private family service will be held in the chapel. Interment in St. Thomas Anglican Cemetery, Rankin. DUE TO THE CURRENT RESTRICTIONS REGARDING COVID-19 SET FORTH BY THE BEREAVEMENT AUTHORITY OF ONTARIO, A LIMITED NUMBER OF PEOPLE ARE PERMITTED AT THE VISITATION.
