Kristin passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of family at the Ottawa General Hospital on Friday, May 10, 2024, in her 40th year.
Kristin Steeves (nee Gorr) of Alice, soulmate, best friend, and beloved wife of 15 years to Shane Steeves.
Unbelievable mother to her children, her pride and joy, Hudson & Isla. Kristin had a special bond with her parents Dennis & Karen Gorr and the late Nancy Gorr. Her wit and grace will be cherished by many, especially her siblings Tracy Reid; Alison Lunn (Jason); Nathan Gorr (Darlene), and Brandon Gorr (Allison). Daughter-in-law of Gerri and the late James “Jimmy” Steeves. Sister-in-law of Jamie Steeves. Fun and caring aunt to Austin & Alex; Breanna, Jacquelynn & Lilyan; Garnet, Ellie, Audrey & William; and Keifer, Tristan, Jaide & Ocean.
Kristin’s selflessness, compassionate nature, and beautiful spirit will be fondly remembered by her aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbours.
Kristin grew up in Carleton Place before heading off to attend college for dental hygiene. Ideal career opportunities and ultimately, destiny, took her to Calgary, AB, where she met and married the love of her life, Shane and started her family.
As life evolved, the couple moved to Ontario, settling in the Pembroke area with their two children. The chapters of life started turning much faster, building of a new house, breast cancer and recently, a new venture in radiation protection at CNL. With each chapter, Kristin built strong relationships that she carried through each phase of life, her beautiful soul and natural ability to care for others drew people to her.
With a diagnoses of breast cancer in 2022, there was a lot of unknowns for Kristin and her family, but despite it all, her organization, attention to detail and ultimately, her selflessness called her to share her health journey to empower and advocate for women’s health. Each step of her life was taken with purpose and reason using reflection on the past and the future to make thoughtful choices not only for herself, but consideration for those around her.
Her grace, strength, faith and love for and from those around her carried her through her entire journey in life.
