O'Brien, Joyce Iris

Peacefully in hospital, Ottawa with her family in attendance, on Monday, July 14th, 2008 in her 84th year.
Joyce O'Brien (nee Davidson) of Pembroke, beloved wife of the late Harry O'Brien. Predeceased by her daughter Marsha Lynn, her parents Robert and Clara Davidson of Beachburg, baby sister Reta, brothers Hedley Robert Davidson (late Stella), and Adelbert Davidson (late Pat). Loving mother of Terry (Sherry), Kevin and Mardi Lee and grandmother of Brad (Marlene) and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Joyce was a talented cook and spent her career as a caterer at Fellowes H.S., Thee Place and the Canadian Legion.
She was a life-long member of the Canadian Legion having served in many capacities including President of the Women's Branch. She was the recipient of the 2001 Volunteer Service Award from the Province of Ontario, the Millennium Appreciation Award for contributions to the Community from the City of Pembroke, and the Royal Canadian Legion's Meritorious Service Plague. Joyce enjoyed playing cards, curling, bowling and traveling. She was a gentle and caring lady who will be missed by those who knew her. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the many caregivers from CCAC in Pembroke, the Mulvihill Family and Staff, and the staffs of the Pembroke Regional Hospital and the Ottawa Civic Hospital for their care in the treatment of Joyce to make her passing comfortable and dignified.
