STEWART, James Allen (PhD - Professor Emeritus of Physical Chemistry, University of North Dakota) In hospital, Pembroke on Thursday, January 20th, 2011 at the age of 84 years. James Stewart of 596 Elizabeth Street, Pembroke, Ontario, dearly loved husband of Ruth Stewart (nee Deavitt) and by first marriage the late Joan Stewart (nee Marshall) 1972. Proud father of Andrew Stewart (Dorothy), Eden Prairie, MN; Catherine Allmaras (Garth), Peoria, AZ; and Shelagh Stewart-Chung (Johnny), San Rafael, CA. Loving Grandpa Jimmy to Andrew Jr., Tommy (Jennifer), Dy-anna, Jimmy, Joan, Kim (Alex), Ben, Jake, Jesseca and Jack. Great-Grandfather of Quinn and Kennedy. Son of the late James and Hedwig Stewart (nee Lindemann). Brother of Janet Stewart, Pembroke; Ethel Cowley (late Ron), Hamilton; Gwen Stewart, Pembroke; and Robert Stewart (Bertha), Pembroke. Sisters-in-law Beth Stewart and Pat Deavitt, Pembroke. Predeceased by brothers Clarence and Donald Stewart, sister Mona Stewart and sister-in-law Joan Deavitt. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He attended Pembroke Public Schools and graduated from Pembroke Collegiate. He obtained degrees from Queen's University and the University of Ottawa. During his youth he played hockey locally for many Pembroke teams. Respecting Jim's wishes, there will be a private family visitation and service.
