Jack MEEKS

MEEKS, Jack Delbert Peacefully in hospital, Pembroke on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the age of 74 years. Jack Meeks of 12 Doran Rd., Petawawa, dearly loved husband of Marilyn Meeks (nee Schultz). Dear father of Jennifer Meeks (husband Jeff Morris), Kanata; and Daniel Meeks, Calgary, Alberta. Grandpa to Jack and Wade Morris. Son of the late Stuart and Grace Meeks of Kingston. Brother of June Lusk (husband Norman), Gananoque; Donald Meeks, Kingston; and Lois Scott (husband Howard), Inverary. Predeceased by brother Stuart Meeks. A sailor, soldier and officer who served for many years around the world with the RCN, RCR, Canadian Guards, Cameron Highlanders, 427 Squadron, and the Lanark & Renfrew Scottish Regiment. After his retirement, he devoted his time to gardening and teaching, and was a youth counsellor with the Pembroke and Area Youth Employment Services. Memorial visitation will be held at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Service in Zion Lutheran Church, 454 Miller St., Pembroke on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Spring interment of ashes in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. (As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 72 Parking Lot Fund would be appreciated.) Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 72 are requested to assemble at the Funeral Home for service Thursday at 2:00 p.m.
