SACK, Ida Robina
Peacefully at the Pembroke Regional Hospital on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 in her 97th year.
Ida Sack (nee Burchart) of Pembroke, wife of the late William F. (Bill) Sack. Beloved mother of William (Kris), Pembroke; Patricia Moses, Maryland, U.S.A.; and the late Suzan McLeod, Ottawa. Ida took great pride and interest in the lives of her eight grandchildren: Peter (Maria) and Mark Sack; Anthony (Cathy), Stephen, and Julia (Dr. Holger Nehring) Moses; and Ian, Megan, and Rory McLeod, as well as her four great-grandchildren: Alexander and Isabella Moses; and Helena and Kristina Sack. She is predeceased by her parents Herman and Annie Burchart (nee Rahn); brothers Herbert, Herman, and Elmer Burchart; and sister Effie Feilitsch. Survived by sisters-in-law Edith Burchart and Doris Sack.
Ida was a founding member of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church and an active member of the Evangelical Lutheran Women at St. Timothy's. Ida was a creative spirit, who brought beauty to her neighbourhood with her lovely garden, and a talented seamstress and baker. An amateur historian, she compiled her family history throughout her life, recording anecdotes and archiving photographs, the family tree and news articles as a reference for the younger generations. She instilled in her family a love of reading and word games, and her presence at the Scrabble board will be forever missed. The family would like to thank Esther Moriarity for her loving care and kindness to our mother during her last years.
By request there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held in St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, Pembroke, on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements by the MALCOLM, DEAVITT, & BINHAMMER FUNERAL HOME, Pembroke. (As an expression of sympathy, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.) Online condolences and donations are available at www.malcolmanddeavitt.com
