Harold Gram

GRAM, Dr. Harold Albert - passed away in Trinity, Florida on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the age of 87 years. Dr. Harold Gram of Pembroke, beloved husband of the late Shirley Gram (nee Buder). Dear father of Franklin Gram (Christiane), Apex NC; Rodney Gram, Stirling ON; and Lorraine Mitchell, Trinity FL. Grandfather of Haley & Robert Gram; Zoe Gram and Daniel Mitchell. Brother of Donald Gram (Lisa), Port Colborne ON; and predeceased by George (late Lorene) & James. Son of the late William & Sadie Gram (nee Moote). Harold began his education at Waterloo Lutheran University with a Bachelor's Degree in 1949. He followed that with a Master's from Harvard in 1952 and then graduated from Lutheran Theological Seminary, Philadelphia in 1953. He served Lutheran congregations in Sudbury and Pembroke, where he was the first pastor of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church before beginning his teaching and higher education career. Harold started teaching at Waterloo Lutheran University in 1960, and after earning a Ph.D from Syracuse University in 1963, moved on to administrative roles at both Valparaiso University in Indiana, and Florida International University, Miami, before retiring as a professor from Concordia University, Montreal in 1992. Visitation at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 2 to 4:00 and 7 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in St. Timothy's Lutheran Church on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Zion/ St. Timothy's Lutheran Cemetery.
