Halbe DeJong

DeJong, Halbe Peacefully in hospital, Pembroke with his wife and son by his side on Wednesday, January 16th, 2008 at the age of 77 years. Halbe DeJong of 591 Alfred Street E., Pembroke, dearly loved husband of 53 years to Jitske DeJong (nee Pool). Loving father of daughter Gaya Bickford and (James) of Nova Scotia; and son Gary DeJong and (Nicole) of Ottawa. Caring grandpa of Sarah, Jim, Catherine and Mathew Bickford; Angela Newman and (Tom), Bradley DeJong and (Patricia), and Crystal VanRaalte and (Eric). Caring great-grandpa of 6 great-grandchildren. Loving brother of Geeske, Janke, Klaas, Willem, Jikke, Ellie and their spouses. Predeceased by brothers Tjeerd, Wietze, and sister Boukje; and his loving parents Gjalt and Grietje DeJong, all of the Netherlands. Halbe will be sadly missed by his sisters and brother-in-law Edith and Vincent, Anna and Dick, Greta and Fred, Wendie and John, John and Nancy, Joanne and Brian, and his many nieces and nephews. Visitation at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, l4l Renfrew Street, Pembroke on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and viewing at the Zion Christian Reformed Church on Saturday from 10:30 until service time at 11 a.m. Spring interment in Wesley United Cemetery.
