Gerhardus (Gerry) Barink

Barink, Gerhardus “Gerry” (founder of Paramount Kitchens and Gerry Barink Construction & Heating Ltd.) – passed away at the Pembroke Regional Hospital, surrounded by family on Thursday, July 9, 2020 in his 89th year.

Gerry Barink of Petawawa, beloved husband of Elfride Groothuis and by first marriage the late Agnes Barink (nee Beukert).  Loving father of Lianne Marchand (Gary), Clarence Barink & Joanne Watts.  Cherished grandfather of Jeremiah (Emily) & Cassandra White; and Melanie & the late Emily Watts; and great-grandfather of Aleksei, Owen & Aiden.  Son of the late Johannes & Johanna Barink (nee Eeltink).  Dear brother of Annie Essink (late Joseph), and predeceased by Herman, Marie, Jan, Henk, Christine & Theo.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family in the Netherlands.  Gerry always enjoyed working with his hands, but had a passion especially for woodworking & turning.

Visitation at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 from 4 to 7:00 p.m.  A Funeral Service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Pembroke on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., followed by cremation.   DUE TO THE CURRENT RESTRICTIONS REGARDING COVID-19 SET FORTH BY THE BEREAVEMENT AUTHORITY OF ONTARIO, A LIMITED NUMBER OF PEOPLE ARE PERMITTED IN THE FUNERAL HOME AND AT THE CHURCH.  Please call the funeral home at 613-732-3637 if you wish to attend visitation or the service and an appointment will be arranged.  FACE MASKS OR COVERINGS ARE REQUIRED.  You are welcome to bring your own face mask or one will be supplied to you upon arrival.  (As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Dementia Society or the Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated.)  Online condolences and donations are available at www.mdbfuneralhome.com.
