SALTER, Frank William – passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on Monday, September 28, 2020 at the age of 81 years.
Frank Salter of Pembroke, and formerly of Orangeville, beloved husband of Carol Ann Salter (nee Wilkes). Loving father of Dave Salter (Heather), Niagara and the late Cathy Meitz (Lyndon), Pembroke. Cherished grandfather of Mya Macpherson (Stuart), Mitchell Salter, Alexa Meitz & Olivia Salter. Son of the late George & Rose Salter (nee Bayliss) and dear brother of Linda Arnold (Randy). Predeceased by brothers Wilf (Lenore) & George (Karen) Salter. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Frank worked as a Chartered Accountant until he was 39. Worn down by the repetitive work, and caring deeply for his family, he decided he needed a change. Having been a volunteer fireman in Long Branch for nearly 10 years, Frank joined both of his brothers as first responders in ambulance services as a paramedic. A daunting goal, he studied part time after work, to graduate with the first class of advanced life support paramedics, and was among the earliest paramedics able to provide life saving treatments and medications until they reached a hospital. Frank loved this work, finding great satisfaction in helping others. After retiring at age 60, he moved to Pembroke with his wife Carol and from their new home they were able to travel, and enjoy time with all of their family. It was then that he found another piece of what he needed in his life, his hope and faith in Jesus, with whom he now rests.
Respecting Frank’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Pembroke on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., with interment in Laurentian View Cemetery.
