Elizabeth Spour of Pembroke passed away at Marianhill on Friday, May 29th, 2015. Born in Pembroke, ON December 19th, 1946, she was the beloved daughter of Enid (Costello) Holland of Pembroke and the late Clifford Jones of Chance Harbour, NB (formerly Pembroke) and step-daughter of Sylvia (Thomson) Jones (Chance Harbour, NB). Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Rebecca Spour (Toronto, ON), sisters Jane Sherwood (Richard) of Toronto, ON and Susan Allen (Dan) of Guelph, ON; nieces, nephews and friends; and Pearl (Jones) Nixon (Aunt) of Fredericton, NB.
Elizabeth Spour was a retired teacher of the Ottawa Carleton Board of Education, a choir director, and well known community musician. Formerly the organist at several churches across Ontario, most recently at First Presbyterian Church in Pembroke. She also taught at Algonquin College, the Ministry of National Defence and was an active member of the Rotary Club.
Resting at Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke, ON (613-732-3637), with visitation on Sunday, May 31st from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 257 Pembroke Street West, Pembroke, ON at 2:00pm on Monday, June 1st. Interment Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery. Reception to follow.
