CHAPUT, Earl Joseph 1941 – 2018 Passed away peacefully holding hands with his true love of 57 years, his loving wife Patricia (nee Wallace) at Marianhill Pembroke on Friday, February 2, 2018 in his 78th year. Brother-in-law of the late Irene (late Fred) Dunham, late Larry (late Frances) Wallace, and Elizabeth (Jim) Campbell of Orleans. Predeceased by his 3 infant sisters Emma, Lorna and Mary Margaret and his brothers Michel (Reina) Chaput, Lawrence (Pauline) Chaput and Raymond (Lise) Chaput. Survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Pembroke has lost a very valuable member of this community as Earl dedicated his life to helping others and volunteering in many aspects around the city. He was instrumental in bringing the Handi-bus to this area fighting for the rights of the disabled. He drove the bus for many years taking patients back and forth to treatments in Ottawa. He sat as treasurer on the board of the senior centre. He volunteered at the local hospital, helped at the local waterfront, did taxes for seniors and was a strong union member for years fighting for the rights of his fellow colleagues. If someone needed help, Earl was always the first one to volunteer and took great pride in being able to help assist those in need. He had a strong faith and cherished his family above all. He will be greatly missed by all the lives he touched. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of the Ontario March of Dimes (Pembroke Chapter) and the staff of 2C at Marianhill for their compassionate care.
