BASTIEN (WALLACE), Doris M. Passed away peacefully at the Deep River & District Hospital on Sunday, August 9, 2009 in her 93rd year Doris Bastien (nee Singer) of Pembroke, and formerly of Truro, Nova Scotia, wife of the late Richard Bastien and by first marriage the late Merlin Wallace. Predeceased by her very dear friend Lorne Burrel. Dearly loved mother of Patricia Chaput (husband Earl), Pembroke and Elizabeth Campbell (husband James), Orleans. Predeceased by son Larry Wallace, Pembroke and daughter Irene Dunham (late Fred), Dartmouth, NS. Survived by daughter-in-law Frances Wallace, Pembroke. Grandmother of Charles (Nancy), Chalk River; Frances, Nova Scotia; Brenda, Toronto; Phillip, Vancouver; Stephen (Sherry), Brockville; Catherine, Ottawa; Michelle Ann, Barrie; Jeffrey and Stephanie, both of Orleans. Also survived by her many great-grandchildren. Doris was "mother" to many others as she served as a foster mother and opened her home to orphan babies for many years in Truro, Nova Scotia. Sister of William Singer (Barbara), Yarmouth, NS; and Winnifred Bigney (late Walter), Truro, NS. Predeceased by brother Douglas Singer, Moncton, NB and parents Charles & Elsie Singer (nee Joel). Survived by one niece Linda Singer, Yarmouth, NS. Resting at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., on Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Service in the Chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. (As an expression of sympathy donations to the Canadian National Institute For The Blind would be appreciated).
