POPKIE, Donald Edward - after a lengthy and heroic battle with cancer, Donald Edward Popkie of Pembroke began his heavenly journey on August 19, 2015 in his 77th year; with his dearly loved wife Judith Popkie (nee Crigger) by his side. Deeply cherished daddy of Rhonda Popkie-Czech (Dennis Dupont) and Jason Popkie (Alice Burgess), both of Pembroke. Adored Papa of Corey Popkie (Janet), Travis Czech and Nicholas Czech; and Damien & Zoey Popkie. Great-grandpa to Arayah & Theodore. Son of the late Erdman and Violet Papke (nee Hass). Brother of Ellard (Shirley), Gilbert (Beverly) and Vincent, all of Pembroke; Joan Tomka (Bob), Eganville; Marjorie Demers (Rodger), Pembroke; Dalphine Luloff (Stanley), Killaloe; Weldon (Jane), Eganville; Rudolph, Alberta; Sheila McQuade (Tom Chaput), Pembroke; and Arleen Popkie (Danny Roesler), Pembroke as well as the late Mildred Giesler. Predeceased by his father and mother, Erdman Papke and Violet (Hass) Popkie. Visitation at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Friday August 21, 2015 from 2 to 4:00 & 7 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Woito Station Road, on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the parish cemetery.
