FABIUS, Caroline (nee Boerlage) Fabius, Caroline aged 91yrs. died June 27, 2013 after a brief illness in Pembroke Regional Hospital. Her family will miss her positive influences on our lives and her rich knowledge of family history. Pre-deceased by husband John. Survived by sister Suus Tissot van Patot (Jan), and brother Robert Boerlage (Titi). A loving mother to: Joy Nimeroski (Brian), Michael (Alberta Davis), Harry (Colleen Martin-Fabius), and David (Barbara). Grandmother of 10 grandchildren, Great Grandmother of 2. Caroline was born August 5, 1921 in Arnhem, the Netherlands. She earned a diploma in Sciences Naturelles in Geneva Switzerland, and spoke several languages. After coming to Canada with her family in 1953, she enjoyed living in many different places, finally settling in Pembroke. Over the years, she has published articles in The Brockville Recorder, The London Free Press, The Hamilton Spectator, and The Halifax Mail Star. She enjoyed sailing, crocheting, gardening, and was known for her lovely gardens. In her later years, she wrote many stories, travelled widely, was greatly interested in people, and enjoyed talking to them, as well as going camping and walking her dog Bobby. Her wonderful smile and many kindnesses will be sadly missed. Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial conducted. The family would like to thank the many people who have helped her over the years for their care, kindness, and thoughtfulness.
