TRUE, C. Douglas
Suddenly at his home in Pembroke on Friday, March 21, 2008 in his 91st year.
Doug, formerly of Woodstock, New Brunswick was pre-deceased by his parents, George Bennet True and Susan Pearl True, his dear sister, Julia Broad, and his beloved wife Margaret True (nee Chisholm). Doug obtained a Bachelors of Forestry Degree from the University of New Brunswick and then enjoyed a career in the forest industry. This particular background, together with his extensive travels, no doubt fostered Doug's life-long interest and concern for our environment. In later years, Doug was a member of the Renfrew County Real Estate Board and also served on the Board of Directors of the Pembroke Housing Authority. Doug will also be remembered by all those who knew him for his great love of music, history, language, travel, his own family history and, of course, federal and provincial politics. Doug also enjoyed his many years of membership as a member of the choir of the First Presbyterian Church in Pembroke.
Doug is fondly remembered by his nephews, nieces and the numerous members of his extended family, living in New Brunswick, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, England, Scotland, Australia and the United States.
A Memorial Service will be held for Doug at the First Presbyterian Church, 257 Pembroke St. W., Pembroke, Ontario on Saturday, April 26th at 11 a.m. (In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pembroke Symphony Orchestra or to charitable organizations promoting the preservation of the environment would be appreciated). Arrangements by the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, Pembroke. Online condolences and donations may be made at www.malcolmanddeavitt.com.
