Bettyanne Hilda Jūrmalietis passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family in Ottawa on Friday, July 19, 2024 in her 87th year. Born on February 19, 1938, in Petawawa, Ontario, Bettyanne lived a life filled with love, dedication, and kindness.

Bettyanne was preceded in death by the love of her life, Dr. Bruno Jūrmalietis, her beloved daughter, Heidi Fleury, her parents Lloyd and Erna Rowe (nee Silke), her brother Gerald ("Gerry") Rowe, and her son-in-law Bert Fleury. She is survived by her cherished and much loved children Robert Jūrmalietis and his wife Diane, and her daughter Liane Jūrmalietis. Bettyanne was a devoted grandmother to Morgan, Graham, Tanner, Chloe, and Logan, and a dear great-grandmother to Faith. Her love for her family was unparalleled, and her commitment to her loved ones was evident in every aspect of her life.

Educated as a teacher, Bettyanne maintained fond memories of her time teaching in her one-room schoolhouse. Her career in education was marked by a dedication to her students and a passion for learning, leaving a lasting impact on many young lives.

After teaching, Bettyanne became an integral part of the family dental practice, acting as the office manager for many years. Her organizational skills, warm demeanour, and attention to detail contributed significantly to the success and smooth operation of the practice.

Bettyanne loved music and was an accomplished pianist and singer. She enjoyed singing with various choirs in the Pembroke area, where her beautiful voice and musical talent brought joy to many.

Bettyanne also loved to travel and, along with her husband, saw much of the world. Their adventures took them to many beautiful and fascinating places, creating countless cherished memories.

Bettyanne's warmth, generosity, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will cherish the memories of the time they shared with her.

A funeral service to honour Bettyanne's life will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Petawawa on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment in the Parish Columbarium. A reception in Luther Hall to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Petawawa, in Bettyanne's memory. Arrangements entrusted to the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, Pembroke.
