FULLERTON, Annie
April 8, 1912 - December 10, 2011
Peacefully in Miramichi Lodge, Pembroke on Saturday, December 10, 2011 in her 100th year.
Annie Fullerton (nee Hibbert) of Pembroke, beloved wife of the late Fred Fullerton. Daughter of the late John & Margaret Hibbert (nee Robinson) of Wigan, Lancashire, England.
Annie was a designated master dressmaker by the Institute of Domestic Arts and Sciences London England and at a young age was employed by the woolen mills of Wigan before immigrating to Canada in 1947. She moved to Pembroke in 1949 and married Fred Fullerton in 1950. Fred was the son of Harry Fullerton who migrated from Ireland in the 1800's to work for Thomas Pink and his Foundry located at the corner of Lake and Prince St. (now parking for Giant Tiger). The Fullerton's purchased the business from the Pink family. The blacksmith shop flourished until Fred passed away in 1966 and the property sold. Annie taught adult night school, advanced dressmaking and tailoring, for 25 years at the Pembroke Collegiate and volunteered over 2000 hours at the Champlain Trail Museum repairing many of the Victorian dresses in their possession. She loved to guide visitors around the museum and tell them her life story. She worked timelessly for her church and her workmanship can be found adorning the alter at Holy Trinity Anglican Church.
Annie will be lovingly remember by her many nieces, nephews and friends in both England and Canada. A special thanks to the staff on 1B, Miramichi Lodge for their kind and loving care over the past 6 years.
Respecting Annie's wishes there will be no visitation. A Funeral Service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Pembroke on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Spring interment in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery. Arrangements by the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, Pembroke. (As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Miramichi Lodge Auxiliary, Carefor Palliative Care Services, or the Champlain Trail Museum Heritage Fire Hall Project would be appreciated.)
