It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Opi, Albert Friedrich Jansen, at the Pembroke Regional Hospital, on Monday, September 19, 2022, at the age of 93 years.
Our Opi, Albert Jansen, was and will be forever loved and deeply missed by his wife of 70 years, the true love of his life, and our sweet Omi, Ruth Jansen (nee Schmidtchen). Adored, respected and treasured dad of Christiana, Benita (late Gord) & Gary (Sharron). Such a caring and loving Opi to Becky (Rob), Heddy, Tim (Audrey), David, Emily (Jeremy), Paul, Christi, Andy and Brenna (Mathias). Great-Opi to 15 very loved great-grandchildren; Martin, Samuel, Luna, Maple, Isabelle, Jansen, McKayla, Lucas, Timothy, Griffin, Amelia, Mabel, Elsie, Svea and Peter. As a devoted big brother to 3 sisters and 1 brother, he was the pride and joy of his parents (late Marie and Friedrich). He will be missed by his brother Manfred (Elke), cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members throughout Germany, Latvia, USA and Canada.
Our Opi had such an appreciation and enduring love for our family, animals, farming, and for Canada. He was always grateful for the opportunities that Canada gifted to him. His Canadian homeland offered peace, security, and the opportunity to establish a beautiful life, family roots and most of all, a safe haven for an ever-growing family which he cared for so dearly. He always had much respect and appreciation for Mr. & Mrs. George & Hazel Matheson, (our Uncle George and Tante Hazie), his Canadian host parents who gave him this life and wondrous opportunities. For this we are all thankful and we know that Opi’s hopes and dreams for us will endure. So many of his gentle, kind and generous manners and values will be carried on for generations to come. Opi, our love for you will live on forever, and we miss you so very, very much already.
As Opi’s family, we wish to express our most heartfelt thanks to the host of angels who cared so tenderly for Opi over the past months and even years; Dr. Cantin and her team, Dr. Savoie, a myriad of home nurses and PSWs, all Bayshore staff, the community paramedics and numerous other paramedics who frequented the farm, the PRH teams in ER and on 3rd floor, Rexall folks, Pastor Bruce and his St. Timothy’s family, dearest Noella, caring friends and neighbours… We feel so blessed!
In accordance with Opi’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private celebration of his life will be held for our family at the family farm. Arrangements are entrusted to Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, Pembroke, of which our family is grateful. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Red Cross are appreciated. …from Omi to everyone…
